How do I stop software from accessing the internet?

I want to stop a peice of software from connecting to the internet. I am running Windows Vista and only have Windows Firewall installed. Is there any good free software that can allow me to stop a program from accessing the internet or how could I do this by only using Windows Firewall. Windows firewall is basically useless in preventing applications from accessing the net. Use something like Zone Alarm. You can purchase the full version to protect you more, but the basic firewall is good by itself.

it actually asks you which pieces of software you want to access the internet and you can chose the level of protection too.

(ie you can allow a program access or allow it to act as a server etc)

Any firewall should stop software unless u tell it to eg avg however Chico child control will stop things and u can add time limits to Internet messengers etc
go to your fire wall and block the program traffic out but allow it in if you want updates
