What software is there for game achievements?

I know Steam gives players the achievements they can accomplish during gameplay (besides game's quests and missions). For example, when I played Half Life 2, I noticed they made some achievements for it, too. But is there any other software besides Steam that can be had that provides achievements, too?

And does Steam provide achievements for other, non Steam games? What software is there for game achievements?Okay if your talking about PC, I only know of Steam and Games for Windows Live, offers achievements just like there console counterparts; PSN and XBox Live. If you buy a steam game that is under GFWL you can earn achievements through that. Like I have Resident Evil 5 on Steam; Steam doesn't have achievements for it but GFWL has it and I get achievements through there.

Also certain games, like StarCraft 2 has Battle.net which records achievements.

And if you buy the retail version that isn't using Steamworks and try to add in Steam it won't do achievements. Games that provide achievements and use Steamworks can earn achievements.

Hopefully that helped and wasn't too confusing..What software is there for game achievements?Steam doesn't provide achievements for non-Steam games.

There are other digital distribution softwares, but I'm not sure if they have achievements. You can check them out on the bottom of Steam's wikipedia page. (Too lazy to look for them myself lol)What software is there for game achievements?what is the point of downloading aceivements u need to earn them
