What will the Disney World Crowds be like in August?

My family has been planning a one day trip(we are Florida residents) to Disney World's Magic Kingdom on August 12th 2009. We have been saving money for the trip for quite some time, and seeing as school starts back on the 17th, it is the only day we can go. Does anyone know what the crowds will be like around this time?

Please any help is appreciated, Thank you! What will the Disney World Crowds be like in August?
Mid to late August is not a bad time to go. Most families vacation in late June, all of July and early August. While a lot of schools go back late August, some start a little earlier. Plus, even if kids aren't back in school, they're getting ready for back to school. College kids are getting ready to move back into the dorms. The week you are in Disney is a big "back to school" shopping week.

I was in Disney once the week after you're going and crowds were very very thin. I think you'll have it a bit more crowded than I did, but all in all I would guess a 6 out of 10, which really is manageable.
More than likely crowded. It would be best in the off season- like January. You'll have fun either way, you might just not be able to see and do all. What will the Disney World Crowds be like in August?
That's a Wednesday, and mid-week is certainly better than weekends. Usually by this point in August crowds are starting to settle down a little bit. If you were able to wait just another couple of weeks, crowds would diminish more, but they won't be terrible. Yes, it will be busy, but no, it won't be as bad as middle of July.

Obviously it's still hot, so to be the crowds and the heat as much as possible, get there when it opens.
Expect high crowds. A good indicator of crowd level is how packed the restaurants are when you go to make a reservation. I tried to get a reservation for Ohana character breakfast for some friends of mine between August 15th and the 29th, and even two weeks ago, everything was booked solid.

So if you haven't already, make a few dining reservations, and once there, really take advantage of fast passes. Get Fast Passes early in the day for popular attractions such as the Kilimanjaro Safari, Splash Mountain, Soarin', Tower of Terror or Rock 'N' Roller Coaster. During high crowd seasons, fast pass kiosks can actually run out of passes by 3:00pm. So grab em' early! Remember to drink tons of water (Disney sells Smart Water, which is wonderful for humid climates), and stay cool.

It is quite possible to have a great Disney vacation during the busiest of times - it just takes a little thought and planning. Have a great time! What will the Disney World Crowds be like in August?
it will be crowded. Its hot, and everyone and his brothers kids are out of school. It is GOING TO BE CROWDED. The best advic ei have is take it slow. Dont get to impatient on the lines. grab a mickey bar while you wait on the lines.

If you've seen the parades before, hit the long lined ones while the parade is going on. You don't want to miss the fireworks.

HAve fun!
