Their channel is just a part of the Disney conglomerate. They can use it to market their movies, Disneyland, and other Disney businesses. They put the money they make from them, back into the Disney Channel. Without commercials, they keep their brand name pure and have complete say over the content. With commercials, they lose that control.
They don't show commercials but they are sponsored by companies too like danimals, sunny d, quaker oats etc. So those companies sponsor them and disney channel just says something like "kids like you eat quaker oats every day on disney channel". I've seen it lots of times. It's sponsorship cunningly

Kids, they make money through your cable company subscriptions. Charter, Time Warner all pay Disney to carry the Disney Channel just for you. They pay a lot.

i think its because of their little promotional things and music and movies and stuff
they get the money from the stuff they promote like the albums/movies.. im pretty sure..
All the cheap stuff the sell form High School Musical.
