well like you said eating cheap is key! If you really want to eat a bigger meal have it at lunch it will be cheaper than the dinner prices!

try to eat a "breakfast" in your room. Like Pop tarts or a banana or apple, this will save you a lot of money!

Carry small snacks for you throughout the day and this will keep you from spending 4$ on a snack that you can carry in and hold you through!

Buy water out side of the parks if you can! This way your not spending 2.50 a bottle when you can get a case for like 4$.

Good snacks I would say are like fruit snacks and granola bars. Things that you can carry with you and not melt/spoil!

if your room has a fridge you can buy string cheese and yogurt and milk and have these in the rooms for breakfast and snacks. you could also get a loaf of bread and peanut butter for sandwiches. Peanut butter will keep you full and this way you can have that "Breakfast" I was talking about!! (this is what I did my last trip and it saved me a lot of money eating yogurt and a slice of bread with peanut butter on it for break fast, then I wasn't STARVING come lunch and could eat a smaller lunch.
Ooh PJ's are great there cheap and delicious! Another good cheap thing could be granola bars fruit snacks and fruit. Like apples, pears, peaches, plumbs, bananas, or oranges.

Good stuff to drink would be water, tea, or juice, like o.j. or apple juice.

Eat breakfast in the morning OUTSIDE the parks. For example, your hotel's continental breakfast, if they've got it, or even going to McDonald's is a better frugal option than eating anywhere on property.

Bring little snacks (candy, crackers, etc.) that won't melt or get messy.

But my most valuable tip is to buy a case of water bottles at Publix or Sam's. It may not seem frugal, but you need to stay hydrated, and your only other options are buying a $2.50 bottle of Dasani in the parks or drinking nasty Florida tap water every time you get thirsty.

Hope that helps!
I usually take granola bars or full meal protein bars in my bag. No need to refrigerate and they travel well. Also, peanuts, crackers, hard candy, beef jerky or string cheese.

Try to eat a big breakfast %26amp; save the big evening meal for when you leave the park.

While at the park, try to do one meal at the park around midday. Even the fast service windows have some pretty good food and it will help you get through the day without being really uncomfortable or hungry. Keep in mind that you will be burning a lot of energy at the parks, so you'll want to make sure you are eating enough. There are plenty of window service places to choose from, but plan on about $10 per person. What are some good food tips for saving at Disney World?
Take a bottled water for each person to keep in a back pack and take enough flavored water packets like Kool Aid or Crystal Light. Don't throw the bottle away and fill it up at the water fountain when you need to and add your flavor packet. Instead of ordering a beverage with your meal just use your bottle or ask for ice water and add your own flavor.

You can rent a locker and store picnic items until you are ready for them instead of carrying them around with you if you don't want buy food inside the park.
take some water, and some drinks with you in a cooler. And maybe pack in a bag some protein bars, some chips... I advise you to bring drinks so you dont have to pay for it there!!! good money saver..

Maybe bring like bread and jelly and peanut butter and you can make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!

Ohh bring sandwichs, make them at home and then bring them!

Have fun!
