How bad is Disney world the week after christmas?

I know people say disney worlds busiest time of the year is christmas week but thats the only time i could take vacation. Now after reading stuff about how bad it is that week its scaring me. Will i still be able to have fun and what would be the longest time waiting for a line? What was some of your experience if you've gone that week? How bad is Disney world the week after christmas?
well december 21st to january 1st is literally the most crowded time of the entire year. during that time period the parks can EASILY fill to capacity by noon. the absolute busiest days during that time are between xmas and new years eve. you need to get to the parks well before they open to ensure that you get in. i would pick one park per day and stick to it. i would not leave even to go out to your car to get something cuz once people start leaving they allow more people to come in and even if you were already in the park that day you may not be able to get back in.

it is so crowded during this time that you feel like a bunch of sardeens. its like one long line just to walk from point A to point B. they even have cast members "directing traffic" with light wands saying stay to your right please stay to your right. also the bathrooms tend to get pretty nasty and they have to shut one down here and there every little while to thurougly clean it and make sure there's enough TP and paper towels and soap. (typically they don't actually close a bathroom to clean it. a cast member comes in and cleans one stall to a time while the rest are still in use).

expect to have some LONG days in the parks and prepare for extremely LONG lines.

even the attractions such as jungle cruise in magic kingdom that like NEVER have more than a 10-15 minute wait any other time will have a 90 MINUTE wait during that time of year.

the longest wait time i have ever seen in disney world is soarin at epcot. during this time the wait time was 3 HOURS and 20 MINUTES!

you really need to take advantage for the FREE fastpass system to cut down on wait times.

and if you are going on new years eve its AMAZING. they even give out FREE hats and noise makers. only problem with that is they give them out starting at noon so all you hear for 12 whole hours is noise maker horns.

here's just a tiny clip of what you're likely in for:

don't get me wrong i'm not trying to tell you its the worst possible time to go or anything. in fact i had soooooo much fun when i went between xmas and new years eve but i'm just trying to prepare you for what you're in for.How bad is Disney world the week after christmas?
If you can, I'd go the week before Christmas. I have been there both the week before Christmas and the week after. While it's busy, the week before is still bearable and you can still see and do things. Christmas Eve through the first week in January is pretty horrible! I only did it once and would not care to go back during that week. All of the parks were at capacity and most ride lines were well over three hours... even the rides that you can usually walk right on (such as Tomorrowland Transit Authority) still had at least a 1 1/2 hour-long wait.

The longest I waited in line the week before Christmas was an hour and a half. You still got the fun Christmas feeling but without the at-capacity crowds.

Whenever you decide to go, be sure to check and see what parks have early admission days for Disney resort guests. Each park has at least one on a different day of the week. If you're staying at a Disney resort, take full advantage of those days and get there early. If not, avoid those parks like the plague on those days!

Also, the parades are a lot of fun, but during the parade is also the best time to get on some of the busier rides. Most people choose to watch the parade, so the lines are usually shorter then. How bad is Disney world the week after christmas?
It is the busiest time of the year. The parks tend to close due to capacity ONLY on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.

That said, we went during the same time last year and had a wonderful trip. We used a service called Custom Mouse Plans and I highly recommend them! They planned out our days and with those plans we never waited more than 10 minutes for any ride! It was crazy since we saw waits over 2 hours, but we never got stuck in those kind of lines. We did all the headliner attractions, tons of the other attractions, the shows, parade and fireworks. Some days we even had an afternoon break to swim and nap! I would never go to Disney World without their plans!
My family and I went a couple of years ago Christmas week. Never again. We went to go to Animal Kingdom one day and they closed the park to more guests due to over crowding. So, we went to MGM instead that day. We could hardly move. I think we only stayed a couple of hours and couldn't take it anymore. We also heard that the Magic Kingdom was shut down for awhile one day do to over crowding but, opened back up later in the day. Not only are the parks crowded but, the airfare for that week is outrageous this year. Good luck!
