I am seriously interested in learning some foreign languages, and was wondering if anyone here could recommend the best software for learning on my own. I am especially interested in spanish and arabic. I know absolutely nothing about either language so I'll need something that starts at the absolute beginner level. I have looked at several different software packages, but was not sure which one would be the best to start with. Thanks in advance for any suggestions! What is best software for learning foreign languages? What we keep hearing and coming up with as the absolute, hands-down best software program is Rosetta Stone. Fairly pricey, but evidently worth every penny.
We homeschool, and many homeschool families we know are teaching/studying a foreign language, and invariably this is what they use. Supposed to be outstanding in every way. Except the cost. :-) About $100per level, or something. They do offer a 100% money back guarantee, within six months of purchase. Here is their site:

And here is a site where they advertise 60% off:

Best Software for learning a new language. What is best software for learning foreign languages? The Rosetta Stone,
by far.
I've never actually had the motivation to learn an entire language with it but, from personal experience I can tell it would.
If you didn't even have a language, that program would teach you how to speak. lol seriously. What is best software for learning foreign languages?
none. it is impossible to learn using a software. it just never works.
if you want something that works, get an actual tutor.
I am doing Spanish and French and I use this website for grammar help etc, just go on it and select what language you want to study on the left hand menu:
http://www.languagesonline.org.uk/
There are other languages too and there is help on vocabulary, grammar, different topics...
I also think you could try going to college night classes or something to get the basics
Good luck!

I've heard that Rosetta Stone is the best but it can be very pricey.
Hola, if you are interested in learning any language, I will suggest to get a tutor, there are ways to learn if you do not have enough money to pay, you can always offer an interchange of languages, you migth be able to teach yours or at least practice conversation to get classes in exchange . I don't think any software will work when learning a foreign language, you need to exposed not only to grammar but to many other things, a tutor can never be replaced for any kind of software, this one should be a complement in the studying of languages.
