How do you get old webcam software back?

I got an HP laptop and it came with webcam software but my friend told me to download some other kind because she said it was really good and she had the same stuff on her HP laptop but hers came with it. Being new with this, I downloaded it and now I want my old webcam software back. How can I find it and get it back because now i can't even use my webcam when I want. Only when I'm video chatting because it opens automatically.
